In an Op. Ed printed by the Rhode Island Catholic Newspaper Bishop Tobin questioned what it was like to be an atheist. He questioned what it would be like to live without faith in God, "I said it must be a very sad, in some ways a sterile joyless kind of existence." Tobin said he is not going after the atheist he just "doesn't understand it."
