Susan Brownell Anthony (February 15, 1820 - March 13, 1906), better known as Susan B. Anthony.
According to Wikipedia, Susan B. Anthony "was a prominent, independent and well-educated American civil rights leader who played a pivotal role in the 19th century women's rights movement to secure women's suffrage in the United States. She traveled thousands of miles throughout the United States and Europe, and gave 75 to 100 speeches per year on women's rights for some 45 years."
Also born on this day is freethinker Matthew Abram Groening, Emmy-winning American cartoonist and the creator of the American animated television series The Simpsons and Futurama, as well as the weekly comic strip Life in Hell. He currently serves as a creative consultant for The Simpsons, a position he has held for over seventeen years since the show's inception in 1989.
Finally, today is the anniversary or the death of freethinker Richard Phillips Feynman (May 11, 1918 - February 15, 1988).
