Town councils opt for silence instead of Lord's Prayer, while GTA sticks to tradition

In the past year, a number of councils a stone's throw from the GTA have opted to replace the Lord's Prayer with a moment of silence, with the intent of being more inclusive and respectful of changing demographics.

But in multicultural GTA, the Lord's Prayer is still recited in Oshawa, Durham Region, Mississauga and Brampton. In Richmond Hill and Oakville, councils recite a non-denominational prayer. All others simply begin with a moment of silence.
